Most LMS issues — courses that won't launch, SCORM lessons that fail to save progress, and Single Sign-On errors — are fixed by updating your browser. This article covers the browsers Tortal supports and how to update each one.
Supported Browsers

Not supported: Internet Explorer (retired by Microsoft in June 2022) and Safari for Windows (discontinued in 2012). The Tortal LMS will not work correctly in these browsers.
Google Chrome
- Open Chrome.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Help → About Google Chrome.
Chrome checks for updates and installs them automatically. Click Relaunch when prompted. Download Chrome.
Microsoft Edge
Edge updates itself automatically. To force a check:
- Open Edge.
- Click the three-dot menu in the top-right corner.
- Select Help and feedback → About Microsoft Edge.
Updates download and install automatically. Click Restart when prompted. Download Edge.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox.
- Click the three-horizontal-line menu (☰) in the top-right corner.
- Select Help → About Firefox.
Firefox checks for updates automatically. Restart when prompted. Download Firefox.
Apple Safari (macOS)
Safari updates come with macOS updates:
- Click the Apple menu → System Settings.
- Click General → Software Update.
- Install any available updates.
Mobile Browsers
iOS (Safari, Chrome, Edge): Open the App Store, tap your profile icon, and install any pending updates.
Android (Chrome, Edge, Firefox): Open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, tap Manage apps & device, and install any pending updates.

If course launch problems continue after updating your browser:
- Clear your browser cache — see How to Clear Your Browser Cache.
- Disable browser extensions temporarily to rule out conflicts.
- If the problem persists, contact Tortal Support with your browser name, version, and the exact error message you see.
